hostel liners   $25-50

raincovers for the backpacks   $15
body waves for our hair   $?
a lonely planet   $20
nalgenes   $10

this has been truly the best summer of my life.  (an many others' lives i've heard)

i have never seen prayer answered so clearly and so rewardingly in my live.  (then again, i've never prayed like this in my life.)

i've never been so filled, so amazed by the Holy Spirit.

my prayer as i go back to school is this:  that i would be used by God, that i would get into His word and just soak in it, and that i would not judge thse around me, for whatever situation.

just know that God is so good.  this summer has been God-tastic!

.pray.

pray for kaleigh - this 17 yr old has a 5 mo. son at home. his kidneys are enlarged. God wants her to find Him.

pray for carly - 14 in juvie.  she wants to find God.  God wants her to find Him.

pray for michael - God wants michael to find Him

pray for seth - 18 and is trying for his GED. pray he cultivates his goals. he reads his bible all the time.  he understands it. but he's trying too hard to get to heaven.  pray the veil is lifted off of his soul and he realizes what it means to be a follower of Christ.  God wants seth to find him.

pray for israel and luis - these guys think it's not tough to be followers of Christ.  that's what a lot of guys think in juvie.  they still think that they're stuck in this life until they get free. they are trying to change their lives. pray they will let God change it for them.  God wants them to find Him.

pray for carl - he's 17 and doesn't care about God (or at least that's the wall he has put up in his heart). it's just not important to him. music is more important.  God wants carl to find Him.

pray for DeShaun - he's 13 in juvie.  13.  he doesn't seem to care either.  God wants DeShaun to find Him.

*sigh*

well, for those of you who read my rarely updated xanga:

the first half of college is finished.

summer school wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. but studying philosophy and only philosophy for 8 hours a day will give anyone a headache. i learned a lot. i learned that christians need to learn more about, well, everything.

everybody: study philosophy.  it's got so much to offer your faith.  know the issues, and how to back it up. do yourself a favor, and look up Anselm's ontological argument.  also, know your Bible like you know your movie quotes.  christianity is NOT all about feelings.

yikes, all my posts turn into a soapbox, well, take it for what it is, the more i learn about my faith, the more i feel that most christians are so nominal, and don't take pride in their roots as an evangelical.

anyways, i'll be working at church this summer...come visit me. and i'll be running all summer, training for the chicago half-distance marathon.  i could use all the encouragement i can get.

supply-side jesus

i don't love jesus.  not the one that sits on the shelf at urban outfitters and glows or tells you you're late for church.  not the paintings of him as white with brown hair looking stoicly in front of a glowing background or even jesus t-shirts. not even the jesus that shows up all around the world in sculptures trying to magnify one of his many complex qualities. the real thing is so much more complex than that.

we are so blind.

i love the One that's in my heart.the one who saved me because of His mercy and not by my works.  i love the Jesus that people don't know about because they're blind to the truth.  i'll bet this doesn't make sense. just a poor effort in expressing my morning.
